Senior Product Manager

Cratejoy

Austin, TX
E-Commerce

Cratejoy is looking for a product leader to join our awesome product management team. Specifically we want you to own the expansion of our B2B Merchant Platform. The Merchant platform forms the core of our Marketplace offering, and is the place that Merchants run all aspects of their business from. You'll be in charge of maintaining and expanding the offering in a way that hits our merchants needs, and helps us deliver on our long term vision. You will be a merchant advocate - working closely with our merchant base to figure out what their biggest pain points are and how to solve them.

You'll be using a combination of data aggregated by working with the customer success team, qualitative feedback provided by the merchants, and product roadmap strategy as determined working with the rest of the product team.

Product management is the most strategic and leveraged team at Cratejoy. The decisions they make, while working with the engineering team, have immediate impact to our thousands of merchants and millions of subscribers. Literally our merchants are in a Facebook group together discussing the changes you make, so the feedback loop to your users is incredibly tight. Tighter than we've ever seen at a b2b organization. You'll be in a position to dramatically impact a business and literally millions of other people's lives with the work you do.

Stuff you'll be doing

  • Research and mockup new user facing functionality (new apps for the app store, adding features to our shipping page, etc)
  • Work with the operations team to make our existing functionality easier to use (go through support tickets to see what the pain points are and figure out if we can fix them with UI)
  • Work closely with the design team to transform rough mocks into beautiful features
  • User test new features
  • Develop close relationships with the engineers and work together to build really great features

We take product very seriously

  • We test new big features as a company and give feedback to the engineer, product manager and designer working on it
  • We build together - anyone can have a great product idea from the Account Manager to the Designer - there is no room for ego's here
  • We iterate and user test quickly (read all about it here https://medium.com/@alykumpula/how-to-hack-user-testing-469bac110090)
  • The whole team works towards quarterly product goals. We put them up on the walls and repeat them in team meetings
  • We're obsessive about metrics. We have 4 giant TV's with metrics that update in real time for the whole team to watch
  • Everyone is involved in the product success. The engineer that build the Referral Program watches how many installs it has and if there are any errors - seriously - we're all crazy

What does it take to get this job

  • Experience in product for a SaaS platform
  • B2B Product Management experience
  • Experience in e-commerce is a plus
  • You've built new features from beginning to end and watched it's success with data
  • You've worked with a team before, ideally cross-functional and in a leadership role
  • Data driven product - you know how many people have clicked on different parts of the platform and where the biggest drop-off point in the on-boarding funnel is
  • Self-sufficient. You're comfortable using SQL to figure out basic stats yourself

Compensation

  • $100-$130k + Equity
  • Full benefits + Retirement

Who we want to work with

We want to work with people who want to work at Cratejoy, not just people who are looking for their next job. They specifically have sought out Cratejoy, they understand what our company does and they feel some sort of affinity with the mission. They are hungry for knowledge and are looking to be challenged in new ways, perhaps they even aspire to start their own business one day - or maybe they already have and now they want to know how to start a high impact business next time. They obviously care about compensation but they aren't just looking for the next higher title and a little pay bump from their current job. They are leaving their current company after making some sort of impact, rather than because they just seem to leave jobs every 18 months once they realize it wasn't as exciting as they thought it would be.

They seem to be aware of who they are as a person, including their own weaknesses, and want the sort of direct feedback and coaching it takes to grow their skillset, into a better team member, and even into a better person. In general people they worked with in the past would say that they are the type of person that "seems to make everything a little bit better" and that adding them to any conversation made the conversation more interesting, rather than more frustrating.

They respect their peers and want to learn more from those around them, and they give people the benefit of the doubt. They don't rush to condemn people and they don't quietly judge, they seek to help their peers be their best. They don't like to assign blame, but if they were to assign blame they'd be just as likely to assign it to themselves as anyone else.

They are hard working when they have a mission, but they aren't just aimlessly working tons of hours for no particular reason. They care a lot about what it is that they are doing, and they don't just blindly follow direction. They want and need to understand how their work connects with the mission of the company and once they do they take it on as their own mission in life. When looking to solve problems they are willing to go outside themselves, but only after doing the diligence necessary. They don't like to waste anyone's time - least of all their own.

They are quick to admit mistakes, and they don't let ego leave them on the wrong side of an issue for very long (or very often). In their area of primary skillset they are very strong in it. They may have other weaknesses, which is okay as long as they are aware of them, but there is at least one or two things at which they are indisputably A+.

About Cratejoy

Cratejoy is the one-stop destination for all things subscription box. Where you subscribe to what you love, and sell what you're passionate about.

We're a Y Combinator and Capital Factory company and have raised a series A from CRV in California We're very well funded and have been growing at a staggering rate every single month since launch. Cratejoy's growth is rocket ship fast, and we'd love for you to be a big part of it.

Our aim is to make subscription as accessible as ebay or etsy make ecommerce today. Our vision is to bring the best business model in the universe to everyone on the planet.

There's 3 pieces to that vision:

The first was our subscription commerce platform. Our seller tools. There was no consensus for how to run a subscription business. We had to design those tools and build them. We had to do it in a way that is accessible to average online merchant. If they were savvy enough to run an etsy store they should be more than savvy enough to run a cratejoy subscription.

The next piece was education. There really were no resources that taught merchants how to run a subscription business. We built subscription school which is a free education site we run. Our team has deep subscription commerce expertise. We write articles, post videos and host webinars to teach people how to run subscription businesses. We created a forum which puts merchants in an community where they support each other and learn together. In the space of a year we've become the unrivaled thought leaders inside of subscription commerce.

Finally, we've built the marketplace. This is a consumer destination site that sells subscriptions. Consumers arrive at Cratejoy and subscribe to our merchants. We cross-sell additional subscriptions to them. This is the piece that we wanted to get to. By creating the platform we were aggregating supply for the marketplace. The marketplace is the demand side of the equation. And the whole is bigger than the sum of the parts, these all tie back together to build the virtuous cycle that is the Cratejoy ecosystem.

Twilio is more than just an API - it's a communications platform that empowers builders and developers with the building blocks they need to innovate. The serverless platform and product line is needed to extend this vision. We want to empower all customers to quickly and easily build Twilio-powered applications.

    About the job:

Twilio wants to change the way that developers and builders at companies (big and small), think about building on Twilio. We want to offer customers a "serverless" way to create Twilio applications. We recently took first steps towards this vision by unveiling Functions at our annual developer conference.Through this approach we want to let customers turn their Twilio business logic and application code into scalable, fault-tolerant production systems without requiring every builder or developer to become an expert in distributed systems, deployment technologies, and infrastructure management.

We are looking for an experienced Principal Product Manager to own and drive this vision to reality. On this journey, you will enable a vast array of features on the serverless platform; from enabling customers to run pre-built code templates to executing the business logic of a workflow configurator to integrating directly into a customer's development tool chain so they can manage Twilio application code from their existing workflows to many more.

    • A roll-up-your-sleeves type.

You've got a keen situational awareness – you understand our market and the moves we need to make to stay ahead. You know how to build for the long term, but quickly.

Ideally, you will have a technical background; experience as a developer is a plus. But you're able to learn complex, technical topics quickly and explain them simply. You can understand the trade-offs of implementation and help your dev teams to make the right call.

You're comfortable working with more than one team to deliver multiple streams of work. And you're goal driven: you know the measures you need the product to hit, and you're not afraid to make hard calls to get there.

Most importantly, you're a compelling leader, able to motivate your team to scale mountains.

    Senior Product Manager

    Influitive

    Toronto
    Enterprise
    last month

Influitive is a rapidly growing innovator in the marketing software space. With over $49M raised from top-tier venture capitalists including Georgian Partners, Relay Ventures, First Round Capital, New Enterprise Associates, Lightspeed Ventures and others, Influitive helps B2B marketers mobilize their customers to become advocates for the business, influencing buyers and driving revenue growth.

The AdvocateHub SaaS platform and Maven mobile app make it fun and exciting for advocates to participate in more customer referrals, reference calls, success stories & testimonials, online product reviews, survey responses and other social sharing. This approach, called 'advocate marketing', is proven to generate higher-quality sales leads, accelerate sales opportunities and improve brand recognition.

The founding team has previously built Eloqua, a marketing automation software firm that went public and was bought by Oracle for $871M in 2012. The team is now bolstered by leaders with one or more exits under their belts.

About the role – Senior Product Manager

Are you ready to apply your product skills to help enhance Influitive's advocate marketing SaaS? We're looking for an exceptional product manager to join our growing team. This role will report to the GM, Upshot and will own the product leadership of Influitive's customer story platform, Upshot.

Product development at Influitive is organized around squads. Each squad includes a Product Manager, a Designer and Developers, and is responsible for a collection of products and features. As a Senior Product Manager, you will help your team ship the right product to your users. You will work to increase the profitability of existing products and to develop new products for the company. You will build products from existing ideas and help to develop new ideas based on your industry experience and your contact with customers and prospects. Squads are data-driven, and you will work to optimize against a set of key metrics that contribute to the overall product goals.

What we'd like you to do:

    • Lead your team to develop a winning product – As the CEO of your product, you are ultimately responsible for your product's success, and you must inspire your team to help you achieve it. You'll work with an engineering counterpart to define and develop a product that meets your objectives. You'll work with your design counterpart to develop an exceptional user experience. You'll work with product marketing to define the product positioning, benefits, and go-to-market strategy.
    • Set product strategy – You own your product team's goals and the path to achieving them. Influitive uses a data-driven development process, so your team will be responsible for a number of key performance metrics, and many of your goals will reflect desired improvements to these metrics.
    • Advocate for customers – The most important metric is customer usage, and customers will not use your product if you aren't helping them do their jobs. You will spend time with customers to understand their problems and to develop innovative solutions for them and the broader market.
    • Prioritize effectively – There will always be many more ideas than there are resources to execute them, so a big part of your job will be to determine the right order of execution. You will collect inputs from numerous sources such as customers, industry analysts, Sales, Customer Success, and executive management. Then you will develop product initiatives based on these inputs. You will estimate the benefit of your initiatives through a combination of experience and data analysis, and you will give the highest priority to those projects that offer the biggest "bang for the buck".

What an incredible candidate looks like:

    • Relevant work experience – Previous experience as a Product Manager at a B2B SaaS software company is required.
    • Tech savvy – CS or Engineering degree is desired, but even without a technical degree, you have "street cred" with developers. You can decompose problems into components, can anticipate issues, and can help developers to make the right technical trade-offs.
    • Business savvy – An MBA is helpful, but even without it, you understand revenue, cost, profit, ROI, investment decisions, and other key business concepts. And you're good with spreadsheets!
    • Data-driven – You understand and appreciate metrics, and you let data (not opinions) drive your decisions. You have experience with A/B testing and understand related concepts such as sample sizes and statistical significance.
    • Leadership – You know what needs to be done, and you are effective at getting others to help you make it happen. You are organized. You run meetings and manage projects effectively. You genuinely enjoy working with other people to solve problems, and they enjoy working with you. Your ideas command attention, but you don't believe that you have all the answers going in, so you appreciate getting many minds on a problem. You are a team player.
    • Design Orientation – You understand and have sound knowledge of design principles and user experience and can provide direction and collaborate with experienced designers.
    • Lean, agile development – You are familiar with agile best practices and the pressures of a regular, short release cycle. You have experience with lean startup concepts such as minimum viable product and validated learning.
    • Excellent communications skills – You are able to deliver verbal and written communications that are clear, concise, and effective and that are at a level that is appropriate to your audience. You can persuade executives, customers, and developers to your line of thinking by making a case that is impossible to refute or ignore.
    • Strong passion & drive – You love software! You are passionate about solving problems for and delighting users. You are competitive with a strong desire to win in the marketplace. You are a fast learner who can quickly develop a deep understanding of the market, the product, and the competition. You execute with a sense of urgency.
    • Positive attitude – You have an entrepreneurial, "can-do" attitude. You are confident but not cocky. You exhibit a humble willingness to learn.
    • What you'll get from us:

At Influitive, you'll find an empowering environment where people are inspired to do great work, learning and developing quickly as professionals as they fundamentally change the way modern marketing works. (Check out our Glassdoor page to see what this looks like in action in the words of our advocates – our employees.) In addition, you'll get some awesome perks, such as a MacBook, catered lunches 2X/wk, a learning and development budget, and a comfy Influitive hoodie. We offer every full-time employee competitive compensation including performance bonuses, generous benefits from day one, and stock options in the company.
