TrackMaven, the leading marketing analytics platform, is growing rapidly and is seeking a forward-thinking, eager and skilled Senior Product Manager to develop, research, plan and bring to market new features as well as enhance or sunset existing features. You will work alongside a team of talented designers and developers who are building the next generation of marketing insight software. The ideal candidate is a self-driven product development expert with a natural curiosity to become a product owner who will be in charge of championing the TrackMaven competitive intelligence platform and customer experience.

As a Senior Product Manager, you will:

  • Be a product expert capable of aiding top-management with product direction, and serve as a spokesperson and evangelist for the product's capabilities.
  • Develop and own the product strategy for some of TrackMaven's largest, highest-impact initiatives, and be responsible for translating feature requests, business strategy, and market opportunities into highly customer-focused requirements.
  • Own every aspect of experiences being launched by defining and reviewing key performance metrics, aggregating user feedback and reporting performance to a broad group of stakeholders on a regular basis.
  • Develop and own a product backlog for each initiative. Maintain a clear ranking of priorities for the development team to effectively plan and deliver against. Communicate roadmap and release schedules to stakeholders, executive leadership, and the company at large, where appropriate.
  • Work closely with Customer Success, Sales, Design, Engineering, Finance, and Ops to execute in a way that maximizes the company's overarching strategies and approach.
  • Drive the development of market insights, competitive analysis, audience opportunity by analyzing trends by customer segment to strengthen current market position and identify potential opportunities. Proactively evolve plans on the basis of such market intelligence. Turn strategy into a value proposition and actionable plans.
  • Deliver value in-market on an ongoing and iterative basis using the lean agile practices and methodology.

To hit the ground running, you'll need:

  • 6+ years of experience in product management
  • Experience working alongside or directly for senior product and engineering professionals
  • A fundamental understanding of digital marketing and marketing analytics
  • An ability to adapt to new and potentially unfamiliar methods or technologies
  • A willingness to work alone or with a team when necessary

Role Summary:

The Product Manager, Mobile, is charged with positioning NPR as a market leader in the mobile space. The Product Manager will be expected to collaborate with developers, UX/Design specialists, corporate sponsorship, stations, and other NPR teams to continually improve our flagship mobile apps on iPhone, Android and iPad.

Essential Duties Include:

This position works with colleagues across NPR to support mobile product innovation:

  • Lead a team of developers, designers, product researchers to improve the performance and reliability of NPR News, a top-ranked app in the news category in both the iTunes store and the Android Marketplace
  • Deliver products on time and on budget; work with team members to balance scope and priorities.
  • Work as a product owner within the Agile development framework and sometimes as a project manager to resolve logistical issues.
  • Proactively engage with stakeholders and communicate with them and throughout the larger organization about product cycles and strategic priorities.
  • Use data-driven analysis to inform product roadmaps and strategic direction.
  • Develop relationships to keep abreast of trends and developments in the mobile space, and share that learning across the organization.
  • Working with the Director, Mobile and with other members of the mobile team, identify strategic opportunities for innovation and experimentation and collaborate with a team of designers, UX architects, and developers to capitalize on these opportunities.
  • Use ROI analysis or other data-driven methodologies to evaluate the likelihood potential deals will contribute meaningfully to NPR Digital Media's goals. Use these same methods to evaluate the success of existing initiatives on an ongoing basis.
  • Negotiate agreements with external partners; develop and prioritize contracts in consultation with NPR's Office of the General Counsel.
  • The Product Manager, Mobile works under the direct supervision of the Director, Mobile, NPR Digital Media.


  • Thorough understanding of mobile platforms – especially iOS and Android -- as well as trends in the mobile industry generally.
  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in an interdisciplinary environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate enthusiasm for digital media and technology into valuable audience experiences.
  • A passion for troubleshooting logic and crafting intuitive experiences, even if you are not a coder or a designer.
  • Passion for public media's digital future.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent required; MBA a plus.
  • 3+ years relevant digital work experience required, ideally in product development or product management.
  • Demonstrated experience developing strategic vision and identifying/implementing specific opportunities to serve that vision in partnership with product owners
  • Proficiency across multiple disciplines such as product/program development, project management, technology, sponsorship or sales, and legal.

Technical Skills and Other Competencies

  • Fluent with the issues and challenges facing journalism organizations in the interactive media space.
  • Deep familiarity with mobile and emerging platforms.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively in settings of high strategic importance and visibility; strong collaboration and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated experience balancing autonomous work and personal initiative with team collaboration at a departmental, divisional and/or inter-divisional level.
