At Teal, we're breaking limits and creating joy by pushing drones to the next level, from simple flying cameras to versatile and intelligent aerial companions! Our flagship product aims to reinvent the category – incredible flight capabilities, 75MPH speeds, profound modularity and a teraflop of onboard computing power – Teal will shift your understanding of what a drone can be. Our product is easy to fly, incredibly durable, infinitely programmable and simply a joy to work on!

After months of development and multiple revisions, our team of 20+ developers, engineers and drone enthusiasts are nearing completion. With several ambitious retail opportunities ahead, we need a Product Manager to help shepherd Teal products to the masses!

--- About You

You are a mid-level Product Manager with a proven track record, someone who can hit the ground running and take immediate ownership of our consumer software-product suite. Your experience reinforces best practice amongst our team, yet you also appreciate the nuance of startup – we move quickly, break limits and constantly evolve!

As an early stage startup, finding rock solid product-market fit is one of the greatest challenges we face – ensuring Teal offerings solve real problems, gain traction and, put simply, delight our customers. This is where you make your mark – the onus is on you to hit the bullseye with our software-product lineup!

--- About the Role

Day one you'll be meeting with internal stakeholders involved with your products – the software team! – and you'll quickly learn what they've been working on, pick up our development methodology and start to identify areas where we can improve. You'll leave the office with a Teal drone, and come back the next day with a handful of bugs for our JIRA project! Working under our Head of Product, you'll play a pivotal role in managing the product roadmap for Teal's software offerings and start giving direction to our UX researchers and UI designers. You're driven by data, have a hunger for finding customer pain points and you have an eye for opportunity. Guiding usability studies and investigating our target segment, internally you'll be a staunch representative of our target customer and champion the features and functions they seek.

After learning about Teal - our product, market and the opportunity ahead - you will take a lead role in defining new product offerings, wireframing apps, guiding usability studies and maintaining feature roadmaps for our lineup of unique drone software applications. This is a rare opportunity to truly demonstrate your product management prowess – but remember, this is a startup, you must be ready to roll up your sleeves and wear many hats!

Responsibilities

  • Assess market competition and identify opportunities for Teal to shine in the consumer space
  • Define clear research objectives to obtain market information; and truly understand target customers
  • Consolidate research into clearly defined product concepts, write PRDs, draft user stories, create wireframes and guide our UI designer to quickly deploy prototype mockups for your team to rapidly test the concept
  • Provide clear direction to our UX Researcher/Tester and develop objective usability studies for evaluation of existing Teal apps
  • Manage the entire lifecycle of beta test/studies; from user selection, to product deployment, data capture and analysis of results; from this you derive clear product strategy
  • Work closely with the software and hardware teams to understand product and architecture limitations, and assist with planning and implementation of scoped products
  • Maintain feature roadmaps for existing products

A background or prior experience with drones is a big plus, experience developing smartphone applications is a must. Ideally you come from a software, *gaming* or UI design background, but have a proven track record in product management.

If you're ready to embrace this ground floor opportunity and make your mark as a world class Product Manager we'd love to hear from you!
