The Opportunity

We are expanding the HomeAway Software team, which helps over 7,000 vacation rental managers and innkeepers run their business through streamlined operations. As a member of the Product Management team, you will lead initiatives that helps vacation rental managers scale their businesses and drive additional bookings. Today, our products provide a broad set of capabilities to manage vacation rentals including front-desk support, calendar availability, dynamic rates, credit card processing, accounting, reporting, and distribution to leading sites such as VRBO.com and HomeAway.com.

As part of the Product Management team, the Product Manager contributes to the success of the team by managing the overall product lifecycle, setting the strategic vision and product roadmap based on extensive market research, defining requirements, and collaborating with development to design, implement, test, refine and deploy new features. The Product Manager will serve as product expert combining industry analysis, end-user feedback, and development knowledge to establish a product vision, multi-year solution roadmap, and an effective engineering partnership to deliver world-class solutions that focus on product excellence.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Drive the product vision and roadmap for our cloud-based software in pursuit of product excellence.
  • Engage with our user community and industry experts to understand the evolving needs of our market.
  • Define product feature requirements that meet specific goals and target metrics.
  • Partner with Customer Support to delight the customer and drive NPS.
  • Collaborate daily with the Development team to ensure projects are clearly defined and properly phased to facilitate timely delivery of functionality.
  • Manage resolution of urgent technical issues while communicating changes to business stakeholders.
  • Launch new products by collaborating with design and product marketing on go-to-market and lifecycle marketing strategies.
  • Track and report on key metrics (e.g. adoption, conversion).
  • Work with the executive management team to ensure they are fully engaged in product launch decisions.

Candidate Profile:

To be considered for this position, you must have demonstrated relevant and current expertise in directing the product strategy of business-to-business and consumer-facing products. Product Managers should be passionate about well-designed online and mobile products, end user experience and current and evolving best practices in software development.

  • 3+ years of Product Management experience in a high-tech company.
  • Proven track record managing multiple ongoing complex projects and implementation of web applications (SaaS preferred), while delivering on schedule.
  • Ability to manage large, complex projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in adopting product management best practices, standards and policies.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with our Design and UX teams to drive product enhancements.
  • Ability to interface with geographically disperse teams.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • High level of initiative and desire to create a world-class user experience for our customers.
  • Agile development and Rally/JIRA experience preferred.
  • Experience in the travel vertical is a plus.
  • BS or BA in related field.
  • Must be willing to travel 10-15% (International and Domestic)

As Product Manager, you will be responsible for creating delightful customer experiences and managing initiatives that drive growth. To be our ideal candidate, you'll need to have extensive experience with online, consumer-facing products and a deep understanding of user experience and Agile methodologies. You are user focused, use data to guide your decisions and can't sleep at night if the details of your project aren't just right. You cherish autonomy, get a warm feeling from simplicity and understand that being scrappy and focused on user delight is the only way to build a great product.

What You'll Do:

  • Own products and create roadmaps that take your product through from conception to launch
  • Set clear goals and deadlines and take responsibility to meet them
  • Develop a deep understanding of user behavior, metrics, and look for ways to drive key product goals. Customer needs and requests always help inform new value propositions.
  • Always be A/B testing to steer improvements, inform projects, and drive product decisions.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to ensure requirements are being met. Be able to tell the story of why a project is important and rally team members around a common goal.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to define and develop new features and functionalities that will both increase conversion and growth.
  • Engage with our design and engineering teams to design simple, gorgeous and delightful products
  • Move quickly. We strive for perfection, but love to release and iterate.


What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree from a top-tier school
  • 2+ years of consumer-facing product experience
  • The ability to both strategize and execute.
  • A technical background that fosters communication with a fast moving engineering team
  • Strong project management skills and experience working with cross-functional teams
  • Experience in leveraging quantitative and qualitative data analysis
  • Understanding of creating intuitive, simple user experiences
