Senior Product Manager

Sprout Social

Our Product Team takes a rare design-first approach. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a hi-fidelity mockup is priceless. Product Managers at Sprout work with our design team to flesh out feature concepts and prove the assumed benefits. If we can't make it work in design, it will never be good enough for our customers. The Product Managers also work closely with our engineers to take ideas from design to launch. You must be willing to painstakingly perfect every detail while maintaining the full picture and guiding everybody you work with toward delivering on the vision.

Most importantly, you must thrive on measuring yourself by the success of our product that is used by more than 17,000 brands around the world. Companies like Dropbox, Zendesk, Fender, Zipcar and Evernote rely on Sprout to create stronger relationships with their customers through social media.

We are looking for someone to lead the growth and development of a set of features within our award winning, widely used, and greatly loved social media management application. Our roadmap is stacked. If you're hungry to drive a piece, we'd love to talk with you.

  • Help manage key areas for development that are consistent with Sprout's roadmap, goals and overall vision, understanding customer needs and market direction.
  • Advocate for your product with an inspiring passion for getting the details right.
  • Prioritize concurrent efforts and provide a clear execution path from start to finish - working with all parts of the company along the way.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams, personally being responsible for specific Agile activities: converting mockups into customer-focused user stories in a prioritized backlog; preparing for weekly planning sessions with engineers; doing daily business validation of progress development.
  • Engage closely with the engineering team to meet realistic (yet challenging) deadlines.
  • Work with marketing to guide product positioning, launch plans and internal/external communications.
  • Take ultimate responsibility for delivering product experiences that delight our customers.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • You're wickedly smart and you get things done; a rare combo. You have a CEO mindset with a roll-up-the-sleeves-and-get-to-work attitude.
  • 3-5 years as a product manager or similar work experience at a tech/SaaS company where you've shipped software.
  • Experience at working through Agile software development processes, communicating through screenshots and user stories.
  • Coding experience is a strong bonus.
  • You have user-focused product design instincts and are relentless about solving complicated problems with a simple user experience.
  • You are an innovative, flexible, on-your-feet problem solver, able to advocate for what you think is important while knowing when to listen for alternative concerns and approaches you may have missed.
  • Excellent communicator (written and oral) and obsessively organized. You need to be able to eloquently speak business and tech. You can manage multiple projects across various stages and keep them all on track.

Senior Product Manager - Data Platform

For customers, we're an online, members-only service that provides benefits across 140+ of the best online stores. Our members save time and money with benefits including free 2-day shipping, easy 2-click checkout and free returns.

For merchants, we're driving ecommerce business, producing insights with a growing data analytics practice to boot. And we help them compete in today's marketplace. It's the ultimate ecommerce win-win.

With people in offices in Chicago and Conshohocken, PA, we're perpetrators of good vibes and great experiences for our customers, our merchants and each other.

The Senior Product Manager for our Data Platform will report to the SVP of Enterprise Products. This role will play a critical part in building our data platform that supports our Enterprise, Consumer, and Analytics roadmaps.

You'll own the roadmap and the vision for building our data platform offering, and will be responsible for making it real and making it relevant. You'll be working side-by-side with product, analysts, data scientists, and developers and will need to use both halves of your brain to bring our products to life.

Interested? Take a peek at some of the data insights we're tackling today: personalization and product recommendations, pricing and media competitiveness, cohort comparisons, cross-channel/omni-channel performance, and inventory management and liquidation solutions. Some of the ways in which we want to utilize our insights are through our front-end customer experiences, merchant dashboard, and integrated products and tools with merchants. To drive out our data platform and solutions, you will need to get your hands a little dirty by digging into our data. You'll need to understand what data we've got, what data we need, and where we might be able to get it - either through our relationships with our merchant network or working with 3rd party providers.

  • Define and own the data platform roadmap based on deep understanding of our consumer, merchant, and analytics needs and take ownership of engaging, educating, and evangelizing the solutions you build
  • Drive successful launch and adoption of our products and features
  • Work with analytics, engineering and data science to understand and influence
  • the build-out of our data usage capabilities
  • Work with Partner Success, Sales, and Product Marketing to understand market trends and to ensure our data platform can scale to meet our future business and product needs
  • Work with external vendors to get any new data sets

  • Experience! 8+ years experience in product management, successfully building, launching and growing data products preferably in the eCommerce or analytics space.
  • BA/BS at minimum, MIS preferred
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis concepts and programming tools like Python or R
  • Familiarity with common visualization tool sets like Tableau, Qlik, etc.
  • Familiarity with real-time data usage and techniques (for use in urgency, trends -- data streaming, spark, real time aggregations/correlation) as well as more traditional data usage and techniques (think data-warehousing techniques, rollups, cubes, visualizations)
  • Huge passion for the products you manage. And, while others might not think it a big deal, you are even more passionate about the clients who use these products.
  • Phenomenal communication skills. You know how to give/receive good news, bad news, suggestions and feedback. You are adept at communicating technical ideas to non-technical people and effortlessly translate business problems into technical solutions.
  • You know how to create a plan, build consensus and make things happen.

The Enterprise Products team is a small, yet growing and highly visible team. With this role you'll be influencing c-suite, executives, and potentially board members. You'll help with not only the product but the process of getting work done. We also think a little personality is a good thing - we take fun very seriously. Finally, we need to you to be willing to think about things not as they are, but what they could be, and be willing to do the hard things to bring our enterprise data products to life.
