There is an exciting opportunity for a business oriented Product Manager at Reuters News Agency.Reuters text wires are used by thousands of news publishers who inform, educate, and entertain billions of people every day. For over 160 years our news wires have provided trusted news and facts that help our clients succeed in their mission.

Our multi-media news packages, called "Online Reports" deliver curated, ready to publish stories for top digital publishers around the globe and are so well trusted that they are often automatically published by clients.

The successful candidate will be responsible for day to day ownership of, and lead improvement initiatives for our text and Online Report products. The candidate will be expected to liaise with all stakeholders including customers, business, editorial, and engineering staff. S/he will need a general knowledge of digital, broadcast, and print newsroom practices to be successful.

Responsibilities:

  • Actively identify, engage, and develop relationships with key stakeholders within the Reuters Media division, customers, and partners.
  • Work with stakeholders and usage data to identify necessary improvements to our text & Online Reports product lines.
  • Work with stakeholders and data to identify opportunities for simplification of our text and Online Reports products.
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure our products align with our multimedia strategies for content coverage, metadata, and technology.
  • Develop plans for improvements and lead cross functional teams to implement them.
  • Identify opportunities for partnership and participate in partnership development.
  • Lead all product management activity for our 100+ newswires and OLR wires.
  • Develop sales training and marketing materials to support go-to-market activities.
  • Perform other assignments as requested by manager.
  • Domestic/International travel may be required.

Education:

  • Undergraduate and/or postgraduate degree in business, international management, media, media technologies or equivalent experience preferred.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant product management experience.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and a customer driven mentality.
  • Experience working in at least one news or media organization.
  • Experience working in a global team across time zones and cultures.
  • Ability to develop and analyse customer usage reports to enable decision making based on quantitative information.
  • Excellent communication skills. Experience simplifying and presenting complex concepts for a variety of audiences.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Proficiency in multiple languages for which Reuters produces substantial coverage (French, German, Russian, Japanese).
  • Experience working at a B2B organization in the news media industry.
  • Experience working as a journalist, editor, or writer.
  • Expertise working with Thomson Reuters or industry driven data / metadata / taxonomy standards (ISO, NewsML, TRCS, etc).
