The messaging team is building the best experience for consumers to connect with local service businesses such as movers, plumbers, locksmiths, contractors, auto mechanics, photographers, wedding planners, make up artists, and lawyers.

The Request a Quote feature allows consumers to quickly and easily connect with businesses to describe their project, send it to multiple businesses and get fast responses. The messaging team is solving interesting text understanding, ranking, real-time messaging infrastructure, user experience and growth projects to build a thriving services marketplace.

What You Will Do:

  • Own key metrics and roadmap for specific areas of the messaging team.
  • Communicate roadmaps and feature releases to executive, user operations, sales, business marketing, and business operation stakeholders at Yelp.
  • Conduct primary user research to identify opportunities to improve the consumer and business owner experience.
  • Work with designers to solve user experience challenges and create intuitive, elegant mobile and web interfaces used by millions of people.Work with engineers on launching and iterating on features.
  • Measure the impact of experiments, and analyze data to identify insights.
  • Work with the core experience, search, data quality and business experience teams on cross-functional initiatives.

We Are Looking For:

  • Experience managing high profile consumer application for 3+ years.
  • A love for the world of local, social networking, search and consumer sites/apps.
  • Solid data analysis and analytical skills.
  • Strong eye for UX. Understanding that you're building for a non-techie audience and what that requires.
  • CS degree or sufficient mastery of technical concepts, so you can talk to our engineers about Python, map reduce jobs, and naive Bayesian algorithms without a translator.
  • Like a BFF, you should love us but also be able to tell us what we're doing wrong.
  • A passion for daily release cycle!
