Marketing is the #1 challenge for most online merchants. Even with an amazing and unique product, it can be tough to drive traffic to your store. Taking the time to build and run marketing campaigns, and learn best practices and make your campaigns effective across numerous channels, is a lot to ask on top of running a business.

That's where Kit comes in. Kit is a fully-automated virtual employee that helps Shopify merchants grow their business. For many merchants, Kit is their first hire (and probably their best, because Kit always shows up on time, and never steals the good snacks in the office). Kit was built to manage small businesses' marketing tasks, so that entrepreneurs can focus on doing what they love: creating incredible products. All of Kit's marketing recommendations are driven by insights that Kit gains from looking at a merchant's customers, products, sales data, past behaviors, and industry trends and best practices. Merchants talk to Kit via a messaging platform such as Facebook Messenger or SMS.

Kit's highest priority is to drive sales for our merchants and thus make their businesses a success. Kit is above all smart, proactive, and simple -- Kit does the research to identify the most effective marketing opportunities, Kit automates the task so the merchant only has to say "Yes" to execute, and Kit optimizes and learns from each ad or campaign to get the best results. Our 2017 roadmap is broken into a few tracks:

1) Adding skills to Kit's toolbox, i.e. new marketing channels, new ad types, international support.

2) Building out the intelligence platform that powers Kit's recommendations

3) Innovating on how merchants converse with Kit

We are located in San Francisco's Financial District, close to BART, and a short walk to the Ferry building.

You'll need to:

  • Have a number of years of experience managing tech products. It doesn't matter so much what your job title was, so long as you have hands-on experience creating and leading tech products.
  • Be motivated by a passion to make a difference
  • Be genuinely excited about solving customer problems
  • Empathize with the merchant and use data to inform product decisions
  • Default to action and help your team do the same
  • Be a problem solver
  • Be a team player, coach, and referee all-in-one
  • Have great communication skills
  • Work well with stakeholders from multiple disciplines
  • Collaborate with designers, developers, marketers, and customers

It'd be great if you had experience with:

  • B2C products ideally (B2B if focused on data products)
  • Simplifying processes at scale (able to be scrappy and process driven)
  • Customer success
  • Some of the following industries are a big plus: Ad tech, marketing tech, commerce background, retail.
