DoSomething.org is a movement to create the most socially active generation in history.

  • We fight for our members every single day. We care deeply about activating millions of young people around the world to make impact in their communities.
  • We believe in young people. We believe all young people have the agency to create social change and we provide them with the guidance to make it happen.
  • We don't hire just anybody. We work hella hard, we move super fast, and we're a bunch of weirdos. We want people who get excited to come to work at our dynamic office every day.
  • We genuinely stand behind who we are and what we do. No faking it here. Everyone on our staff has their own "why" for coming to work every day. What will yours be?
  • We have the stability of a 23-year-old organization, but we look, feel, and operate like a tech-forward startup.

Are you a product manager/owner, kicking ass but wondering what's the point? Wouldn't you rather work on making the world suck less in both the short and long term?

Help us create a movement today that will foster the leaders of tomorrow. We exist to provide a gateway for the masses. To make action habitual. To transform our members into responsible, better informed, more socially conscious, socially aware, and socially active members of our global society. To make an impact on not one or two causes but across the spectrum of issues facing our society today. To create systemic change.

Put your energy and those amazing PM skills to work for all the right reasons. You will build the tools that 5 million young people around the world will use to make change happen. You won't obsess over the details because there's an angry client or investor breathing down your neck; you'll obsess over them because they mean something to you, and to the millions of young people using our product.

Responsibilities:

  • Ideation. Work with the team to improve existing features and create exciting new experiences to help young people make an impact in their communities.
  • Product Design. Collaborate with the product and tech team in the design process of new products and features.
  • Specification. Create/clarify issues for developers.
  • Prioritization. Package features into sequenced releases. Prioritize bugs and enhancements, and then determine which are release blockers and which should be rolled into future releases.
  • Facilitation. Pull out all the stops to get features out. Identify and keep track of blockers and then find/create solutions.
  • QA. Perform functional testing as new features get built. Be creative! Try to break shit and then work with developers to get it fixed.
  • Communication. Serve as the bridge between business operations and engineering. Make sure everyone on the team (tech and otherwise) understands how features we ship will impact their work. Communicate business cases to engineers so that work is properly prioritized and implemented.

Qualifications:

  • You're a systems-level thinker always considering the unseen ramifications of each and every decision.
  • You have basic familiarity writing queries in SQL. Nice to have: experience using Looker for data visualization.
  • You've used google analytics before and aren't afraid of making segments and goals.
  • You are excited by the creative opportunities QA provides. You're obsessed with coming up with weird ways to break our platform and get a strange satisfaction in discovering a particularly nasty bug.
  • You're naturally able to motivate a group to accomplish a shared goal. You might not need exclamation points! But you'll do what it takes!
  • You have a prioritized list somewhere—paper, your brain, Trello—of days' or weeks' worth of stuff you want to work on.
  • You want to understand how things work, and ask clarifying questions to further that understanding.
  • When work heats up, you have a rock-solid organizational system to back you up.
  • You're passionate. About product. About process. About social change. Don't tell us. Show us.
  • You read all of the bullet points, even when there's ten of them.
