The Akamai Web Application Security business launched in 2009 with the Web Application Firewall product as an option sold with application and site performance solutions. Since then, the business has grown to include a wider portfolio of cloud-based security services. In early 2013 Akamai established a business unit dedicated to security.
Akamai's vast deployment of Internet-based edge servers enables unparalleled service capacity and availability. Akamai has also developed a massive Hadoop cluster for security research, forensics, intelligence and other non-real time analysis purposes. This enables Akamai to develop solutions that leverage its global scale and visibility into web application attacks. A recent addition to Akamai's security solutions portfolio is our Bot Manager product.
Akamai is an innovator in the bot management space, leading the market in providing a solution to differentiate between human browsing and automated / bot access to a website. Akamai's goal with Bot Manager is to define this market by setting new standards for excellence that leverage Akamai's unique characteristics - its scale and visibility.
We are seeking an individual to drive the evolution of the Bot Manager product with key developmental focus areas being detection technology, usability, integration with origin security controls, and partner enablement. This position will require defining new product requirements based on direct customer and partner feedback.
In addition to being the product manager for Bot Manager, this person will also be required to manage several other product launch and business initiatives. This role also includes providing pricing and transaction support.
This person will work closely with the product architecture, portal, threat intelligence and 'big data' engineering teams. Additionally, this person will work with the Media Analytics business unit, which develops the real-time analytics solution called Security Monitor used by Akamai security customers.
The ideal candidate will possess a working knowledge of web security, expertise in browsers and client-side technologies and have demonstrated experience as a product manager.
This position will be based in Akamai's HQ office in Cambridge, MA. It will involve travel to tradeshows, to meet with customers and partners as well as occasional travel to Akamai's offices in Israel and the San Francisco bay area.
