Jumpcut is a Y Combinator and venture-backed startup that creates cinematic online courses with the world’s biggest influencers.

The founding team at Jumpcut has years of experience creating binge-worthy content — we’ve created multiple viral YouTube channels that now have over 4.5 million subscribers and over 500 million views. We’re now taking that content creation experience and applying it to the monotonous world of online education.

If you’ve ever taken an online course, you already know that 99% of them suck. That’s because they all do the same thing: record a dry and uninspiring instructor who talks to the camera for hours on end. While this is fantastic for getting over an Ambien addiction, it’s atrocious for actual learning.

Think about what can be done with video: we have the ability to create things like Avatar, The Dark Knight, and Game of Thrones, but the status quo when it comes to online courses is this. In an ice cream parlor of unlimited flavors, every other online education company has opted for vanilla. We have our eye on the mint triple chocolate chip birthday cake cookie dough with strawberry whipped cream and banana nut sprinkles.

Our team is approaching online learning in a completely new way: combining educational content with compelling stories, captivating cinematography, creative soundtracks, and much more. The result is a beautiful course that feels like a movie. We believe the future of education lies in creating world-class content.

At Jumpcut, we're looking for our first full time product manager.

Your job will be to build an innovative education platform for our students. We have over 10,000 active students in our entrepreneurship courses, learning about YouTube and online business, and they demand excellence, not only in our video content (which is the core of our product), but also in the learning management system surrounding the videos.

Product development is an extremely collaborative effort between engineering, design, analytics and customer-facing teams. You'll be working closely with our CEO, COO, Engineering Manager, and Head of content to build out features that will improve the learning experience for our online courses. Your goals are two-fold: create a habit-forming learning experience that allows people to really absorb all the material, and more importantly, increase our student success rates.

You'll be a good fit if:

  • You can think in terms of the big picture, but deliver on the details
  • You have a nose for great products, and advocate for new features with qualitative and quantitative reasoning
  • You do whatever it takes to make your product and team successful, whether that means writing a QA plan or hunting down the root cause of a user’s frustration
  • You can turn incomplete, conflicting, or ambiguous inputs into solid action plans
  • You communicate with empathy and exceptional precision
  • You are technical enough to ask engineers good questions about architecture and product decisions alike
  • Beyond just shipping new products, you obsess about continuous product improvement

What we're looking for:

  • You're looking to work at a startup and are excited about the prospect of being the first product manager
  • You're extremely excited about building out the process for product management from where there formerly was nothing
  • You have at least a year of product development experience, with more product management the better
  • You’ve mentored product managers, engineers, and designers before and you love coaching others
  • At your former company, you have a track record of successfully building a large-scale business and consumer product that impacts millions of users around the world
