Technical Product Manager, TechCrunch

TechCrunch is seeking a sharp, motivated product manager to join our multidisciplinary product team as we grow and launch new, exciting digital experiences. The team builds and maintains a wide variety of products including our website and mobile apps, in support of our editorial content, our events business, and more. This product manager will play a key role in supporting these efforts, supporting our Head of Product in iterating and launching cutting edge products in service of a large audience who appreciates the latest and greatest in technology. In this role, you will:

  • Contribute to our overarching product vision and roadmap.
  • Participate in planning and requirements gathering process for new products and projects.
  • Produce written requirements, wireframes, and other similar materials as needed.
  • Own the content authoring experience for our editors, interfacing with the editorial team to define worthy enhancements, and acting as the go-to resource for questions related to them.
  • Break requirements down into detailed tasks for engineers, entering them into our tracking system, and keeping them up to date with the latest information and status.
  • Assist in grooming our product backlog and scheduling development work.
  • Validate, document, prioritize, and communicate status on fixes for bugs as they are reported.
  • Understand the competitive and strategic position, staying abreast of industry best practices and trends, and apply them as appropriate.

Basic Qualifications?

  • Bachelor’s Degree?
  • 3+ years of product management or technical project management experience, including working on a live product with a large user base. Experience at a consumer-facing media or entertainment brand is a large plus.
  • A strategic mindset that allows you to prioritize various projects and requests with a longer term vision.

  • Excellent writing, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging abilities.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and accurately at every phase of the development cycle, with both technical and non-technical parties.
  • Deep familiarity with the Wordpress CMS is a plus.
