The Global Consumer Lending group is responsible for developing and managing all aspects of our card and non-card lending products throughout the customer lifecycle. This position is on the International New Products team within Global Consumer Lending and will report to the Director of Product.

International New Products is a critical component of the Lending Strategy. This Product team is responsible for implementing innovative lending strategies to meet customer payment needs and support the company's financial roadmap. The team also represents the customer's lending needs to our various cross-functional partners such as Compliance, Technologies, and Servicing.

The scope of responsibilities includes a mix of ideation, product development, and project management. Specific responsibilities include: (1) Work with our foreign market partners to inform and vet innovative lending strategies (2) Assist in customer research to shape needs (3) Create detailed features & user stories (4) Assist in the development of user test conditions and quality checking (5) Evaluate the results from product launches (6) Assist in maintaining Product backlog and portfolio assets


  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and influence large cross-functional teams and senior leaders
  • High quality written and oral communication skills and ability to influence business decisions
  • Strong will-to-win, positive mindset, drive to do what it takes to meet deadlines, "can do" attitude
  • Proven project management skills and ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
  • Ability to translate business needs into effective features, user stories, and acceptance criteria
  • Experience in Agile SDLC methodologies preferred
  • Solid analytical skills and ability to assess business results and customer impacts (SQL experience preferred)
  • Undergraduate in Computer Science, Engineering, or IS preferred
  • Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for this position.
